In an effort to understand the opportunities for Canadian wood, FII India is leading a delegation from B.C. and Canada on a four-day trade mission to India.

Delegates will visit manufacturers and builders including those specializing in prefabricated construction, commercial homes, interior design, furniture, windows and doors.

During the mission, delegates will visit a development by BMM Real Estate Group, which includes 60 wooden cottages on 16 acres using J-grade SPF; Prestige Lakeside Habitat, which includes 271 low-rise villas using yellow cedar for windows and doors; and Shanthi Vijaya Saw Mills, one of the largest lumber traders/importers in Bangalore.

Following the mission, some delegates will participate in India Wood 2018, an important tradeshow for architects, interior designers, builders, developers and those involved in furniture production and woodworking in India. Canadian forest company kiosks will be assembled collectively under the Canada Pavilion–an exhibit built in the North American wood-frame style of construction and displaying various applications of Canadian wood species.

B.C. companies produce a wide variety of high quality, environmentally friendly forest products that can help meet India’s growing demand for wood. Learn more about FII India’s market development activities at www.canadianwood.in.
