Over the past several years, a number of tall wood projects have been completed around the world, demonstrating successful applications of various tall wood building technologies. Learning from the experiences of early adopters is essential for establishing opportunities for tall wood buildings in British Columbia and North America. B.C.’s Forestry Innovation Investment (FII) – Wood First Program, and the Binational Softwood Lumber Council (BSLC) commissioned Vancouver architecture firm, Perkins+Will, to conduct a survey and report on ten international tall wood buildings, including an evaluation of some common lessons learned from the experiences of project stakeholders, such as the Developer/Owner, Design Team, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and Construction Team.
