Cross laminated timber (CLT) is a new building material in North America. In Canada interest in CLT is growing, in part driven by the availability of large amounts of mountain pine beetle killed wood. FII has recently released a research study led by Dr. Frank Lam (UBC) into the rolling shear failure mode of CLT in relation to its application, manufacturing process, and load duration response. The objective of this research was to develop the necessary engineering data to support the commercialization of B.C. made CLT. The report is available in the Technical Research section of this website.
