Robotics workshop at UBC CAWP
Building value-added manufacturing capacity

FII co-funded a workshop organized by the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing (CAWP) at UBC and led by the Institute for Computational Design at the University of Stuttgart. The workshop not only supported innovation in timber construction, but also allowed for a complete re-interpretation of wood architecture.

Building value-added manufacturing capacity

FII co-funded a workshop organized by the Centre for Advanced Wood Processing (CAWP) at UBC and led by the Institute for Computational Design at the University of Stuttgart. Using a newly installed state-of-the-art eight-axis industrial robot, the workshop guided participants through the unique technical and conceptual foundations that underpin robotic milling in wood through the development and construction of a full-scale fabrication project. The workshop not only supported innovation in timber construction, but also allowed for a complete re-interpretation of wood architecture.
