Lori Wanamaker was appointed the Deputy Solicitor General on October 25, 2010. From June 2009 through October 2010, Ms. Wanamaker was the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, leading a diverse portfolio that included tourism marketing, tourism development, visitor services, heritage, archaeology, the B.C. Arts Council and cultural policy. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Wanamaker was Deputy Minister of Labour and Citizens’ Services, with responsibility for the delivery of government’s shared services, including accommodation and real estate, workplace technology, purchasing and procurement, Service BC, and the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
From 2005-2006, Ms. Wanamaker was the Associate Deputy Minister of Housing for the Ministry of Forests and Range, and Minister Responsible for Housing with accountability for housing and homelessness policy and programs, building and safety policy, and residential tenancy.
Lori Wanamaker’s career with the Province of British Columbia began in 1990 at the Office of the Auditor General and she subsequently held several senior positions within the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and the Ministry of Community, Aboriginal and Women’s Services. Ms. Wanamaker is a Chartered Accountant and an alumna of Royal Roads University. While working in the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, she completed her Masters in Business Administration at Royal Roads in 2002. Prior to joining the BC public service, Ms. Wanamaker worked in a public accounting firm in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
