NATORI, Miyagi Prefecture – Contributions from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia to the Tohoku Reconstruction Project will support rebuilding of the Yuriage City Public Market, a significant first step in helping the local farming and fishing industry.

B.C. wood products will be used to build new community facilities in the area of Japan devastated by an earthquake and tsunami in March 2011 through $4.5 million in funding from B.C., the provincial forest sector, and the Canadian government.
Chinese interest in wood-frame construction is being showcased through a new design centre in Hebei province featuring B.C. wood products and building systems, announced Steve Thomson, Minister of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations at the opening ceremony.
